In Diener Tattersall in Berlin-Charlottenburg, friends, companions, and admirers of the actor Volker Spengler (1939–2020) sit at their usual table, share stories about the beloved and feared man, and smoke until the air is thick. Hans Broich’s film realized together with Felix Leitner, succeeds at the interplay of reverent chatter, which not only gives rise to the complexity of the person Spengler, but also nimbly heralds the art of living.
