A lot of Irish women consider their participation in the North Ireland conflict, the Troubles, an emancipatory undertaking. In part, dissociated from the men, they build bombs, stage hunger strikes, smuggle weapons, and are sentenced to prison. In Friederike Berat’s and Ulrike Ertl’s interview film, which gives a voice to both pro-British Unionists and pro-Irish Republicans, all are aware of the power of their short, albeit crisis-ridden freedom.
