It’s a petrified world that awaits the sensitive, half-orphan Manuela at the Prussian boarding school in 1910. The headmistress preaches discipline and order, the girls are to be raised to become soldiers’ mothers. Miss Von Bernburg, on the other hand, focuses on camaraderie and art with her charges. Manuela shakes up the institutional hierarchy with a shy kiss on the mouth of the adored teacher.
