The Unidad Habitacional Nonalco-Tlatelolco is the largest apartment complex in Mexico City. Designed by Mario Pani in the 1960s as a “vertical city,” the modern utopia was only partly fulfilled; class integration was left unachieved. In symmetrical detail Schreiber examines the faded, historically fraught architecture and the story behind it – in particular of those inhabitants, who continued to live there even after the student demonstrations of 1968 and the earthquake of 1985. The director and part of the team will be present.
