After the far right’s seizure of power, a lot has changed in the much-lauded Alpine state. The old Schilling currency is back, and the EU is long passé. Law and order reign today, as well as “healthy” national pride and polka shows. People just want to feel comfortable again. And: “If you don’t do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.” Todespolka draws an affirmatively exaggerated image of our political reality while consequently leaning towards pithy trash and tastelessness – hearty, looking to the future, but consequently tied to the past.
