Special Program: Draußen vor der Stadt
In the context of Nightline, this year, too, the Diagonale offers the opportunity to make a unique re-discovery. Courageous, experimental, and from episode to episode more psychedelic, the eighteen-part ORF series Draußen in der Stadt is 1970s Viennese youth culture captured on film. The legendary Günter Brödl (1955–2000), a music journalist and author of all of Ostbahn Kurti’s songs, was twenty-three years old when he wrote the script. Unbelievably concise in their assessment of social relations and young people’s needs, these little film pearls have not been shown for decades. A lot of fun for fans of B-movies and midnight screenings!
