Katharina Copony died in Vienna in November 2024. Her award-winning documentaries are spaces of encounter in which the beauty of “external reality” is visually and acoustically echoed and reflected on. Whether a canteen in a Styrian barracks, where she links up to her own childhood memories, or a tiger in the Malaysian jungle, in her work she reconciles awareness of form and sensitivity.
The Diagonale commemorates Katharina Copony with a small homage by showcasing her films In der Kaserne (2019) and Tu Harimau (That’s the Tiger) (2021).
