Analphabeten in zwei Sprachen

West Berlin (street) scenes in black and white, accompanied by the off-screen voice of the writer Aras Ören, document the catastrophic situation that children of Turkish guest workers are confronted with when learning the language and getting an education in German schools. The filmmaker thereby exposes the structural discrimination of those who are welcomed as workers, but not as human beings. A combative, crystal-clear, in many ways alarming contemporary film.
