Turkish metalworker Cafer brings his family from Turkey to Germany. However, this new life brings with it a lot of difficulties and unexpected aspects—his wife becomes involved in the women’s movement, his eldest son doesn’t want to go to school, his daughter has to stay at home and look after her newborn brother. After its completion in 1979, the Turkish censorship committee at the time banned the film. In 2023, it celebrated its belated premiere in Germany in a restored version.
