Gastarbeiter (Dragutin Trumbetaš)

Bogdan Žižić presents the illustrations of artist Dragutin Trumbetaš, who captured the everyday life of migrant workers in Frankfurt am Main. In the melancholic drawings, Yugoslavian dreams meet German racism. Žižić also films the prosperity of the 1970s, advertising, and the nascent “Mainhattan” in Frankfurt. Things are looking up. But the summit is empty, road signs point to Belgrade, Zagreb, and Ankara. A parade of contrasts that works a lot with overlapping sound.
