Mädchen in Uniform

After the death of her mother, Manuela is sent to a girl’s boarding school where hunger and discipline reign. All that makes life at the boarding school bearable for her is her rapturous worship of her teacher. When she openly confesses her love for the teacher and the scandal is perfect, Manuela wants to take her own life. An engaging period piece on a subject that was still a social taboo in the 1930s. Rejected by the conservative Ufa, the film was made as an independent production by a film cooperative.
