An apartment as stage. Here, Robert (Timocin Ziegler), a gay man, and Leni (Thea Ehre), a trans woman, act out the couple they once were and no longer are. As undercover investigators, they are meant to convict a drug lord. Christoph Hochhäusler's exquisitely shot film, which won an acting award at the Berlinale, with its diverse cast and sensitive handling of its characters, finds its own melancholic tone between film noir and Fassbinder-style relationship drama.
