Mehdi Charef, formerly a laborer, then writer and director, adapted his own novel as a feature film about the friendship of two Parisian teens in the concrete desert of the banlieues. Madjid and his friend Pat drift through the gray and dreary streets, keep their heads above water with petty crime, pimping, and scams. And they dream of a better life, someday, somewhere else. Goran Rebić suggested the film as a complement to the Spotlight on series.
