High Tide opens with a mountain range set behind an endless mass of water. Lukas Marxt gives the spectator time to focus – time to become aware of the cinematic gaze – before the camera lens draws away and moves with the current. From then on the movements of wave and camera are shaped into a visual/ physical paradox, reality and film are no longer distinguishable.
