Elfi Mikesch’s experimental short Execution. A Study of Mary is a biographical examination of the historic figure Mary Stuart, staged as an attempt at liberation and emancipation. The film marks the intersection of photography and film in the author’s work. “Images are like words at the speed of light,” says Mikesch.
