Every journey begins with a first step. But what happens if you don’t want to leave? Due to the lack of profitability, the convent in Eichgraben will be converted for secular purposes. Letting go is difficult for the elderly nuns; not all of them are willing to yield readily in the Catholic spirit of submission. In this way, Die Große Reise is a testament to the profound balancing act between faith, hope and destiny; an unassuming film about women and their love of God and the life of the convent.
