In 2000, Belgian filmmaker Nathalie Borgers experienced the Freedom Party’s entry into the Austrian parliament with Jörg Haider as party head. Thirteen years later she returned and went in search of the traces: following Haider’s accidental death in 2008, he became a myth that his companions, critics, and last but not least, the public has been processing until the present day. Borgers encounters him – distancing herself from the common polarizations surrounding his character – in what is perhaps the only possible way: with an outside view. (Production notes)
