Piling up in the living room are books and records, crusted-over dishes in the kitchen, and unfinished projects in the mind. When young Fitzthum infiltrates the musicologist Szabo’s mess to demand some sheet music, he involuntarily becomes the impulsive oddball’s assistant. With the exaggeration of satire, the film investigates the cliché of the quixotic academic.
