During the Romantic era, Berlin’s bourgeois society passes the time with chamber music and social events in the evenings. Weary of such a marionette-like existence, the poet Heinrich longs for suicide and seeks a companion for this final step. After profound diagnosis, Henriette, the young wife of an acquaintance, contemplates following Heinrich’s call. “A romantic comedy” inspired by Heinrich von Kleist’s suicide.
