From utopia to dystopia. After the Second world war, 19 identical residential blocks were built on the ruins of what had been the “little ghetto” in the centre of Warsaw. For a long time, this city within a city used to be a show piece of modern functionalist architecture and communist urban planning. Since then, the green spaces have been making way for new office buildings and parking spaces. Heidrun Holzfeld documents everyday life and social friction within the block.
