La Pivellina is Tizza Covi’s and Rainer Frimmel’s third collaborative film. The Austrian–South Tyrolean filmmaking duo was so impressed by the people from their documentary Babooska that they chose to also set their first feature film, La Pivellina, in the circus milieu and cast it with amateur actors. For La Pivellina, the filmmakers were awarded their second Großer Diagonale-Preis at the Diagonale’10.
