There’s cleaning, scrubbing, and wiping going on: every day, around the clock, and seemingly by invisible hands. In a four-star hotel in the Dolomites, the housekeeping team, mainly made up of women, makes sure everything is clean. Breaks are short, and there are no holidays or sick leave. Personale watches the workers, all of whom have an immigrant background, as they do the same repetitive tasks; and in doing so, consistently adopts their perspective. Not being seen means not existing.
