One Minute Movies: Erleuchtung

Three shorts by comic artist Nicolas Mahler and animator Stefan Holaus. From their series which now comprises 26 episodes, we present three episodes that particularly express the pointed wit and humorous view of film history. In Die Billig-Zeitmaschine , a spherical UFO lands in the brown but extremely friendly Middle Ages—just as it is clearing away its accumulated manure. In Erleuchtung , a poor pilgrim seeks enlightenment and still has a few kilometers to go—and the realization that he might be getting screwed over. And in The Wolf Ma’am , eerie noises can be incredibly disturbing when you want to read your newspaper in the evening.
