Ich denke oft an Hawaii
Documentary Film, BRD 1978, DCP, 85 min, OmeUAn experimental work about isolation, housing estates, speechlessness, and the distance between Berlin and Hawaii. In a sensitive and visually poetic portrait, Mikesch presents the lived reality and dream world of sixteen-year-old Carmen Rossol: scarlet-red lips, a bright yellow cleaning bucket, and toxic-green ambrosia as protest against the uniformity of the everyday routines that are shown. This pleasure in staging was unsettling for the Duisburg audience in 1978; a lot of people left the cinema.
