Gerhard Friedl links the violent history of a family from the provincial Styrian town of Knittelfeld with views of the town. Taverns, discount shops, and a military airport act as “crime scenes” in a narrative of manslaughter, theft, and serving time. The gap between image and sound leaves in our minds, wounds that cannot be healed.
