Michael Kofler’s feature film debut tells of South Tyrol’s striving for autonomy in the 1960s. Zweitland conveys the complex political situation through one family: while farmer Anton (Laurence Rupp) joins the “resistance,” his younger brother Paul (Thomas Prenn) doesn’t want to have anything to do with politics. Anton’s wife Anna (Aenne Schwarz) is pragmatic: a peaceful life together should make life easier for future generations. The family soon faces a crucial test.
