A short film walk by Street Cinema Graz

After Street Cinema 2025 was held indoors due to weather conditions, we are making another attempt at a cinematic tour of Lend – the district where the Graz Short Film Walk was launched in 2013. Visitors are invited to join a special form of open-air cinema, drifting through the alleys of the neighbourhood and discovering current short films in courtyards and on house walls when these become temporary projection surfaces.
The starting point of the walk is the square in front of the Lendhotel (Grüne Gasse 2). From there, we walk to the first wall. Station by station, we move forward with mobile cinema equipment, discovering new, previously hidden and surprising things, and transforming the district, which is characterised by different communities, languages and cuisines, into a jointly created space for cinema.
Street Cinema Graz was founded in 2013 and brings short films by young Austrian and international filmmakers to urban spaces. Equipped with a projector, sound system and laptop, the walks lead to places that are off the beaten track, but also invite visitors to see familiar places with new eyes. Unassuming walls are transformed with vivid scenes of light and shadow. The connecting aspect of this open-air film experience is also central, as visitors strike up conversations with each other on their way from wall to wall, or people who live around the various locations join the walk.
