| Film Awards at Diagonale 2026 |
As part of de Diagonale, Austria’s most highliy endowed film awards will be presented by international jurys at the 2026 edition, thereby honouring the many achievements associated with the production of a film. The Franz Grabner Prize, the Carl Mayer Screenplay Awards, the Thomas Pluch Screenplay Awards and the Kodak Analog Award are also traditionally awarded during the Festival of Austrian Film as well as the Kleine Zeitung Diagonale Audience Award. This year, the Mabacher Award will be presented for the first time as part of the Diagonale.

The Grand Diagonale Acting Award for services to Austrian film culture 2026 goes to the unique and versatile actor Hilde Dalik . The award ceremony will take place as part of the opening night on March 18, 2026 in the Helmut List Halle. More information → here

The Diagonale Awards ceremony will take place on March 23, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Annenhof Kino. Austria’s most highly endowed film awards will be presented in 19 categories. In addition to the Grand Diagonale Awards presented by the Province of Styria and the Diagonale Award for Innovative Cinema presented by the City of Graz, the awards are also endowed by VdFS – Verwertungsgesellschaft der Filmschaffenden, VAM – Verwertungsgesellschaft für Audiovisuelle Medien, and ACOM – Austrian Composers Association.
