Spieler traces the day-to-day life of 25-year-old Rustem who has been earning his living for the last eight years playing online poker. His winnings vary. Spieler, however, is neither the portrait of a winner nor a canonized gambling critique. Rather, Katharina Copony succeeds in a cinematic expression of the idiosyncratic routines at real and virtual casino tables – of a game, which embeds itself into the very life and routine of a person.
