Via sounds, letters, and images the five films in this program weave a double-breasted suit. They indicate the “essential” qualities of the medium itself (while happily foregoing one or the other in the process). As a group, they also suggest what “Austrianness” might mean. At the same time, they negate this very idea by emphasizing the constructedness of any kind of “…ness” (national, mental, aesthetic).
