On the limits of civil society. In 2008,13 animal activists are indicted on the basis of the controversial (“Mafia”) Article 278a. The alleged offense: Property damage and forming an illegal organization. The trial lasts more than a year and fails to provide any concrete evidence. The film follows five activists up until the point of their acquittal and beyond – into an uncertain and financially precarious future, fraught with powerlessness in the face of the state and the Kafkaesque nature of case law.
