Indonesia. A tropical landscape of rivers. But instead of wallowing in nostalgia and the exotic scenery, the camera shows us mountains of garbage, poverty and the people on the wrong end of the capitalist, neocolonial system. A voice over, presumably of an executive on the board of a company, can be heard – an impressively topical quote from 1899, “When looked at more closely, the conquering of the world is not a pretty matter”.
