Lillian Alling, who immigrated to the U.S. from Russia, wants to return to her homeland in 1927. Since she doesn’t have enough money for the return journey, she sets off on foot. Andreas Horvath sets the story in the present. Lillian’s march becomes a breathtakingly photographed survey of Donald J. Trump’s heartland. An impressive film; subtly and sustainably unsettling.
