After the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire (1915–1923) many refugees landed in the northern Iranian province Gilan on the Caspian Sea. Houchang Allahyari and Babak Behdad set their poetic story here in the present day and tell of the encounter between a young musician and a mysterious young woman who “works” as a scarecrow to “silence the birds,” and likes to spend time at the Armenian cemetery to talk with the dead.
