Part six of the project “X Characters” features contemporary versions of iconic female film personalities. Crash Site tries to bring a symbolic end to the lives, or afterlives, of these film characters. The central figure is Hari, the famous reincarnation of Tarkovsky’s Solaris, and her dilemma of the impossibility of suicide. How can an existence that is only hallucinatory be ended? Nana from Godard’s Vivre sa vie and Guiliana from Il deserto rosso also strive, in a loop of filmic self annihilation, for closure with their pasts. Again and again.
