Bordering the bilingual region of Unterkärnten lies Griffen, birthplace of Peter Handke and Bernd Liepold-Mosser. Liepold-Mosser is on the hunt for Handke in their shared native land. Everyone has an opinion about Handke – adoring, hostile, ambivalent. Griffen not only portrays the absent artist but also offers a glimpse into the “Austrian soul.” This is a regional film, and at the same time it is well equipped to speak about the world at large.
